New for 2024 is the Source Exclusive Supreme Comp skate from Bauer. This performance-level skate appears similar to the M30 with higher-end tech, including a Form Fit footbed, 52oz felt tongue, and Digi Comp boot.
Skate Fit Profile
The Comp Senior skate comes in sizes 4-6.5 Full and Half sizes and D and EE widths. D size is more of a standard width, whereas EE fits a bit wider for larger feet. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes.
Boot Construction &a Stiffness Profile
The Digi Comp boot keeps the skates’ performance competitive without making it too stiff and difficult to skate in. For a more comfortable feel when turning, the Comp skate includes a comfort edge along both sides above the ankle. Although the Comp skate is designed to be a bit more flexible to accommodate a wider range of skaters, Supreme family skates are classified as stiffer than Vapor family skates.
Liner/Internal Padding
For the Comp, Bauer used a sublimated hydrophobic microfiber liner along the inside to keep you comfortable and dry while you play. The internal padding is made of lightweight memory foam to further increase comfort when wearing the boot.
Asymmetrical Toe Cap
The Supreme Comp skate uses a standard toe cap to keep the construction simple and to accommodate a wider variety of foot shapes and sizes.
Tongue
The tongue is made of an updated 52oz pro stock felt material with a mesh metatarsal guard. This combination of comfort and protection is designed to form fit around and over the metatarsus area for extra coverage, and the thick felt helps shield the front ankle area of your foot from harm while you play, including lace bite.
Insoles
The skates use a Form Fit footbed for premium comfort on the landing.
Lacing System
The Comp uses a standard flex facing lace system along the eyelets with improved durability and reliability in the materials used.
Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile
To hold the blade in place, the Supreme Comp skate employs a TUUK Lightspeed Edge holder, which is the same as it was in the previous highest-end Supreme Ultrasonic skates. For steel, the Comp uses LS+ steel.
