Vaughn Velocity VX1 Pro Carbon Full Set

PADS

The Vaughn Velocity VX1 Pro Carbon leg pads are designed to give the elite level goaltender the ideal combination of modern technologies with a traditional feel. Built with a Pure Carbon insert running the length of the pad along with high quality foams, the VX1 Pro Carbon is able to offer a soft feel while remaining durable and maintaining its easily flexible pre-curved shape.

The VX1 Pro Carbon has a slimmer profile including a thinner upper thigh and a streamlined outer roll giving it a lighter feel, similar to that of the V10. The core of the VX1 Pro Carbon also features a firmer face and internal core, giving rebounds a more lively feel off the front of the pad.

The use of a QuickSlide inner landing area gives the pad a significantly improved slide while a calf pillow and a tighter fitting calf wrap paired with Vaughn’s RRC+ strap allow you to remain in control of each motion and feel like the pad is an extension of your leg. A soft, Nash-like material lines the knee cradle creating a comfortable feel while the use of their MSH technology allows the pad to rotate into the butterfly quicker.

The wide knee cradle and removable outer knee wing allows for easy integration with knee pads of all sizes. QuickSlide is also used in high wear areas such as the outside of the knee block, toe binding and upper thigh in order to increase the durability of the VX1 Pro Carbon.

The velcro and elastic boot strap allows for flexibility and easy adjustability while the bungee toe ties relieve stress off of your hips while still keeping you firmly attached to the toe bridge without running the risk of coming undone like other velcro options. Finally, as with all pro level Vaughn pads, custom colors, sizing, graphics and other options are all available.

External Material

The VX1 Pro Carbon leg pad takes advantage of Vaughn’s renowned Canadian made quality. Using only the best materials available to them, the VX1 Pro Carbon uses a durable leather face combined with a QuickSlide slide surface and toe binding for superior slide and durability in high wear areas. A soft, comfortable Nash-like material lines the knee block, upper calf and instep leading into the calf wrap made of a breathable, durable nylon interior with a lightweight mesh exterior.

Internal Construction

Like the V10, the VX1 Pro Carbon pad features a traditional three knee roll design and includes layers of carbon fiber for reinforcement. However, the core of the VX1 Pro Carbon has been redesigned to be thinner, lighter and to give off harder, more active rebounds. A pre-curved shape and a scoop bend gives the VX1 Pro Carbon the traditional Velocity shape and soft flexible feel that users of previous Velocity line pads and other hybrid pads alike will appreciate.

A lower profile, single break outer roll provides good flexibility while further reducing the weight of the VX1 Pro Carbon pad. The squared off upper thigh provides better seal and coverage compared to previous Velocity pads and other softer pads. Finally, as the name implies, the VX1 Pro Carbon utilizes layers of Vaughn’s new Pure Carbon running tip to toe on top of their sturdy pro core allowing it to maintain its shape while still providing the familiar Vaughn cushion that they have become famous for.

Pad Break

A single external break below the knee is seen on the VX1 Pro Carbon pad, combined with a soft core and boot, the VX1 Pro Carbon pad retains the soft, forgiving, traditional feel of previous Velocity line pads that hybrid goalies know and love.

Knee Cradle

The knee cradle of the VX1 Pro Carbon features a widened knee landing area for improved integration with knee pads of all sizes. Different knee blocks varying in thickness and density will be available in order to provide a truly customized fit.

The outer knee wing is made of nylon and is laced in allowing it to be adjusted or removed entirely. The center of the knee cradle features Vaughn’s MSH which speeds up pad and leg rotation when dropping into and recovering from the butterfly.

Strapping

The VX1 Pro Carbon features a redesigned strapping system and calf wrap allowing for a simpler, quicker and lighter system. Vaughn uses a velcro Reactive Rotation Control strap that sits on the upper calf to allow for quicker yet more controlled pad ro

tation while giving the pad a connected feel. The calf wrap uses a single velcro strap to seal its extended wings that offer better coverage over previous iterations of Vaughn pads.

While still a fairly tight fitting leg channel, the VX1 Pro Carbon has a widened inner leg cradle overall when compared to previous Velocity pads giving goals the feel of a tight fitting leg channel while offering the better rotation associated with a looser leg channel. Finally, the VX1 Pro Carbon features a velcro bootstrap as well as the same bungee toe tie system seen on select Ventus line leg pads.

Toe Taper

The toe on the VX1 Pro Carbon pad features a taper allowing for superior mobility and recovery pushes while not sacrificing any seal or coverage.

CATCHER

The Vaughn Velocity VX1 Pro Carbon Senior Goalie Catcher is aimed at the elite level goalie who wants a comfortable yet protective glove that’s easy to close right off the shelf. It uses a break angle that gives it a similar feel to a CCM 600 closure. Vaughn uses carbon layering in the palm, thumb, backhand and cuff to provide superior protection and durability while keeping the glove light. A Shock Shield palm and thumb base further increases protection and longevity of the catcher without sacrificing the quick snapping closure. The carbon reinforced split “T” design takes the deep wide appearance of a double “T” pocket and combines it with the quick, snappy feel that a single “T” offers. A lightweight mesh fingerstall construction allows for superior breathability and comfort while a built in internal grip rail on the inside of the palm allows for better grip and closure. The VX1 Pro Carbon uses neoprene lined internals in order to offer the best in breathable comfort along with the fully adjustable back hand strapping system that provides goalies with a truly customizable fit. A carbon reinforced segmented HD foam back hand and finger tip protector rail provides good protection from all angles of the glove without losing flexibility. Compared to the past, the VX1 Pro Carbon features a two-piece cuff construction. Finally, as with all pro level Vaughn gear, custom colors, sizing, graphics and other options are all available.

External Material

The VX1 Pro Carbon catcher is made out of a durable leather featuring a sharp new graphic. It features QuickSlide accents in high wear areas along with a nylon binding and backhand. Vaughn uses a Hex Mesh inner lining and finger stalls for better breathability, comfort and quick drying. The interior of the finger stalls contain an internal grip rail helping goalies get a better grip on the glove allowing them to snap it shut quicker and with ease. The VX1 Pro Carbon catcher features an HD foam pad over the back of the fingers as well as a raised HD foam finger tip deflecting rail. A stronger Pure Carbon molded palm and front thumb insert combined with the Shock Shield palm and thumb profile provide superior protection and durability while a reinforced perimeter edge works to extend the lifespan on the VX1 Pro Carbon catcher.

Break Angle

The break angle of the VX1 Pro Carbon catcher is designed to feel similar to that of a CCM 600 break. It uses a more defined break point allowing for easier closure compared to previous models.

Pocket Design

The VX1 Pro Carbon uses the same split “T” design first seen on the VE8 giving the wide, deep appearance of a double “T” combined with the quick snapping closure of a single “T”. A carbon reinforced T-top gives the VX1 Pro Carbon glove superior durability while still allowing it to snap closed easily right out of the box.

Strapping

The quick adjust webbing wrist strap of the VX1 Pro Carbon features added padding for better comfort while a neoprene material is used on the inner back hand allowing for good grip and breathability. The internals of the VX1 Pro Carbon catcher feature a velcro adjustable elastic strap that sits over the back of the fingers while another velcro adjustable strap controls the tightness of the neoprene back hand piece.

Cuff Design

The VX1 Pro Carbon catcher utilizes a true two-piece cuff reinforced with carbon for increased protection. A bindingless construction is used in order to maximize the blocking surface. A wide, open cuff design allows the VX1 Pro Carbon catcher to sit comfortably in any goalies stance no matter their glove position.

BLOCKER

The Vaughn Velocity VX1 Pro Carbon Senior Goalie Blocker is designed for the elite goaltender who wants a lightweight balanced blocker. The VX1 Pro Carbon features a bindingless board design offering maximum coverage along with Pure Carbon inserts on the face of the board, sidewall, thumb and composite finger protector offering superior protection, stiffness and reinforcement. A redesigned soft, comfortable nash and suregrip palm features a seamless index and small finger offering a more comfortable and durable feel while a thumb pillow and a soft padded cuff offers increased protection. Finally, as with all pro level Vaughn gear, custom colors, graphics and other options are all available.

External Material

The VX1 Pro Carbon blocker features a bindingless, durable leather face with QuickSlide accents in the high wear areas such as the nose and finger areas. The back hand uses a combination of nylon and mesh keeping it lightweight and durable.

Internals

A Pure Carbon reinforced thicker foam board coupled with shock absorbing LD adds stiffness and rigidity to the blocker while giving more active rebounds. The VX1 Pro Carbon blocker keeps the traditional Velocity shape with a 17mm HD foam board top bend allowing for better puck deflection.

Palm Material

The palm is made of a soft nash material with a large suregrip overlay that runs the entire lengths of the palm and thumb. The index and small finger uses a seamless wrap around design to increase the durability of the palm and give a more comfortable feel when holding the stick, as well as added mesh palm gussets for added ventilation.

Side Hand Protection

The side hand of the VX1 Pro Carbon blocker is laced into the face and uses a Pure Carbon insert to increase the sidewall’s rigidity and help stiffen it and give better side hand protection. The VX1 blocker utilizes a double layered finger construction, which made its debut last year in the V10 Pro Carbon blocker.

Cuff

The VX1 blocker uses a short, floating cuff to offer increased wrist mobility. The cuff is velcro adjustable in order to give goalies the option to adjust the fit as tight or loose as they want while offering good protection, as well as adjustments available through the wrist strap to allow a more precise fit.

Hand Protection

The thumb of the VX1 Pro Carbon uses a molded Pure Carbon insert in order to offer superior protection while the finger guards use a composite core and HD foams. The back of the fingers use HD foam padding to catch anything that passes by the large finger protectors. Finally, a large sewn in floating index finger protector sits flush with the stick to catch pucks riding up the paddle.
